Taraji P. Henson's love for Angela Bassett: 'Look at this woman! Good God almighty!'

(14 May 2018) TARAJI HENSON'S LOVE FOR ANGELA BASSETT: 'LOOK AT THIS WOMAN! GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY!'  Taraji P. Henson's love for Angela Bassett runs deep.  The two actresses reunited recently at the CinemaCon convention in Las Vegas, where they exchanged compliments before Henson stepped back to admire the youthful-looking 59-year-old Bassett. "Look at this woman. Good God almighty," Henson said.  The two met at a Will Smith-hosted pre-Oscars party, and Henson says she remembered being stunned that Bassett knew who she was.  "You had your hair braided all back and I was like, 'Oh my God.' I was fanning out. It was really crazy. And then she looked at me and she said, 'What an amazing actress.' She saw 'Baby Boy.' And I was frozen. Because I was like, she knows me? And she saw my work?" Henson said. Bassett: "I am a fan. I'm a fan of great work. Great work." Henson: "Do you know - it's so like when you look up to someone and you study their work and then to have that person knight you. That was – I still talk about that to this day... Trying to make you proud, follow in your footsteps." Henson was promoting the upcoming "What Men Want" at CinemaCon, while Bassett was there for "Mission: Impossible - Fallout." 47-year-old Henson says she is never disappointed by any of Bassett's films. "I don't expect anything less from her. Like, I just know she's going to knock it out of the ballpark. It's just a given. You know, there are actors that can get me out of my house on a Friday, because I know I'm going to be thoroughly entertained," she said.  "I know I'm going to get my money's worth. And then there is some you just – you know, I'll wait for the video. I'm not trying to be funny, but it's true. You go to movies like that." Bassett returned the compliment: "Yeah, there's some folks that you know they always deliver. Taraji is one of those for me. They always deliver with subtleties and with nuance and with levels." Also reuniting at CinemaCon: Longtime friends Daveed Diggs and Rafael Casal.  After Diggs shot to fame in "Hamilton" on Broadway and more recently with appearances on "black-ish," the two joined forces for the indie movie "Blindspotting." "I was 17 or 18 and he was 13 or 14. And I think - when we met like, I saw him doing some poems on stage and I was like, 'Oh, he's pretty good. 'And then I went away to college and didn't talk to him for four years," Diggs said.  "Yeah, we knew who each other were. We knew we were both artists. But when he got back from Brown, I was running a recording studio in Oakland and somebody mentioned that he was doing music now. So they brought him through and we did a bunch of music and we were like, 'Oh, OK, so this is what we do now. We do this. We do plays together. We're going to start a band together.' It was just like – it was very 'Stepbrother'-y,'" Casal said, laughing.
