There is both good protein and bad protein for your body when you have Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and are on a Kidney Disease diet (Renal Diet) you have to take precautions with protein and kidney disease. Most American\'s consumer a high sugar, dairy and meat diet. This animal protein puts a lot of stress on the kidneys and speeds up your kidney failure. Whereas plant-based protein doesn\'t put stress on your kidneys and can actually help your kidneys to heal and regain functionality, improving your GFR. I also recommend non-soy based plant protein. Soy can cause bloating and water retention which is not good for those with Chronic Kidney Disease. To make it easy, search for Vegan food at your grocery store. There are lots of great vegan options that will provide your body with the protein it needs without putting extra stress on your kidneys.
