Equipping Foster Parents to Actively Support Reunification

In this AdoptUSKids webinar, you will learn strategies to effectively develop and support foster parents to encourage their active support of reunification as a permanency goal for the children in their care.   Actively working toward reunification requires foster parents to build complex skills and navigate emotional challenges. The session will explore the importance of providing foster families with comprehensive development and support that fully addresses the critical role they play in reunification. Presenters will share tips and ideas from the field to help workers and program managers enhance their agencies’ work in this area.   Presenters:  • Britt Cloudsdale is the program coordinator of the family support team at AdoptUSKids. She has over 10 years of child welfare experience, with expertise in foster care and adoption.  • Mikie Franklin is the supervisor of recruitment and training in foster care and adoption for Washoe County Human Services Agency in Nevada. She will share how her jurisdiction prioritized the development and support of foster parents in order to adequately prepare them to support reunification.
